The 2018 Beckstoffer To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon from Amici Cellars is an excellent showing in this vintage. This slowly begins to unwind and reveal its beautiful aromas of ripe blackberries, cassis and dark cherries, which are woven together with exotic spices, loam, cigar box and hints of dark chocolate that all emerge from the glass. On the palate this offers a wonderful full-bodied texture, with a well-structured frame supported by muscular tannins. It possesses wonderful concentration and depth, along with excellent freshness through the polished finish. This continues to evolve and become more compelling with each second in the glass, and I expect it will evolve incredibly well over the course of the next decade or two.
