The 2017 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard (already bottled) comes from Hyde and Old Wente clones more than 30 years old, 100% barrel fermented and aged in 40% new French oak for 13 months. It gives up fragrant peach blossoms and honeysuckle scents with grapefruit, melon and pineapple at the core and a waft of chalk dust. The palate is medium to full-bodied, rich, satiny and seductive with a toasty undercurrent and long, chalky finish. 190 cases produced.
