“Blackberries, blackcurrants, graphite and a hint of terra cotta on the nose. Medium-bodied with creamy tannins and flavors of juicy fruit, flint and dark berries. Extremely refined for such a hot vintage. A fine, velvety texture at the end. Drinkable already, but better in three to four years. Try after 2028.”

2022 Amici To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Franc
“The 2022 Cabernet Franc Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is based on 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a very Franc nose of bright red and blue fruits as well as sappy flowers, underbrush, and tobacco. This carries to a medium to full-bodied 2022 with terrific purity, a broad, layered mouthfeel, nicely integrated tannins, and outstanding length. It’s a gorgeous wine that has the riper style of the vintage while still staying fresh, balanced, and nicely structured. Drink bottles over the coming 10-12+ years, although I wouldn’t be surprised to see it keep longer.”

2022 Amici Dr. Crane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
“Wow, pure and delicious dark fruit mingles with lavish oak and cocoa flavors in this big, effusive, deep and dark wine. Black cherries, blueberries, spearmint, dark chocolate and creme de cassis expand on the palate and linger in the finish. So drinkable and smooth now, but will continue to develop with time. Drink now or hold.”

“Smoky black fruits, leafy tobacco, chocolate, and sappy, floral, herbal nuances (I always find a Bordeaux-like aromatic quality from this site) all shine in the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard, another ripe, concentrated, beautifully textured and seamless 2022. It’s balanced and has a concentrated mid-palate, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It’s not going to be the longest-lived example of this cuvée, but it brings a beautiful richness while staying graceful, elegant, and oh-so-drinkable.”
