“pure perfection”

Vineyard Notes

Napa pioneer Dr. George Belden Crane originally planted Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard in 1858. During the 1920’s the Chinatown of the City of St. Helena was located on the site. Acquired by Beckstoffer Vineyards in 1997, the vineyard’s gravelly loam soils were replanted in 1998 to multiple clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.

Winemaking Notes

We are thrilled to release the first Amici single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from the phenomenal 2021 vintage— and the inaugural release of Amici Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. With only two barrels (50 cases) produced, this wine is too limited to even include in an upcoming wine club shipment. As a special pre-release, our top wine club members have the opportunity to secure this 99-point wine prior to its release to our full club list next year. Whether a treasure for your cellar, a meaningful gift, or memorable wine for your holiday table, the 2021 Amici Beckstoffer Dr. Crane is a can’t-miss bottle for the Napa Cab collector.

A wine that looks like pure perfection is the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard, a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon brought up all in new Taransaud barrels. Cassis, graphite, smoky black fruits, loamy earth, and green tobacco all make an appearance on the nose, and it’s full-bodied, deep, and layered, with perfectly ripe, polished tannins. Unfortunately, there are a scant two barrels made (50 cases), so count yourself lucky if you can latch onto a few bottles.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Dr. Crane offers tons of immediacy. A rush of inky blue/purplish fruit, spice, lavender and rose petal meld together. Plush and super-expressive, with no hard edges and fabulous balance, the Dr. Crane is gorgeous. This, too, needs time to soften.
