2019 Amici Flora Marie Vineyard Chardonnay

James Suckling

“Layered and flavorful”

Vineyard Notes

Flora Marie Vineyard sits on the eastern side of the Russian River Valley hilltops, planted to the elegant Montrachet clone in the region’s quintessential Goldridge soil. The vines are situated on one of the flanking ridgelines of the Russian River Valley, where the vines are shrouded in fog at night and early morning but receive bountiful sunlight during the day. As a result, this Chardonnay is one of the first lots to be harvested each year, and the wines have gorgeous acidity and finesse.

Winemaking Notes

From a lovely vineyard on one of the flanking ridgelines of the Russian River Valley, the 2019 Flora Marie Chardonnay is the confluence of a spectacular vintage and stellar site. A mineral-driven wine on the nose and palate, this Chardonnay has notes of citrus oil and hints of jasmine. The mouthfeel is medium- to full-bodied, showing flavors of pineapple, ripe pear and roasted plantains leading into a long, fruity finish.

James Suckling

“A buttery, layered and flavorful chardonnay with aromas of peaches, spiced pears, smoked almonds, salted butter and buttercups. Fleshy and concentrated with broad layers of spice and ripe stone fruit, balanced by bright acidity. Delicious. Drink or hold.”

Jeb Dunnuck

“From a site just beside the El Diablo Vineyard (both in the Russian River Valley), the 2019 Chardonnay Flora Marie Vineyard comes from young Montrachet clones. It’s a fresher, more focused, elegant Chardonnay offering bright citrus and grapefruit notes as well as subtle floral and chalky mineral notes. Medium to full-bodied, vibrant, and nicely focused on the palate, it will evolve for a decade.”
