Winemaking Notes

This 2018 Amici Cellars Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon highlights the lush, ripe fruit and Rutherford Dust of valley floor vineyards along with the structure and ageability of Napa Valley’s best mountain appellations. Aromas of blackberry, black currant and blueberry compote give way to notes of cedar box, soy, and currant. The palate is dense and viscous with laser-like precision. Richly fruit-forward with black raspberry, black plum and blackberry cobbler, the wine is also layered with spice, from savory herbs to vanilla and hazelnut. A long, fruit-driven finish leaves you wanting another sip.

Lots of walnut, chocolate, currant and thyme character to this with some wet earth and forest fruit. Vibrant nose. It’s full-bodied with lots of fruit and ripe tannins. Flavorful finish. Solid red. Drink or hold.

“Lastly, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve comes is a selection put together by Biagi and comes from a mix of the single vineyards. A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot, all still aging in new barrels, it offers a plush, forward, full-bodied style that carries classic notes of jammy blackberry and cassis intermixed with lots of spice, chocolate, and a touch of graphite. This pleasure bent beauty will drink nicely for 10-15 years.”

“A barrel sample of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Malbec, 6% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc, it’s expected to age 22 months in 100% new French oak. Very deep garnet-purple colored, it gives up bold, expressive crème de cassis, wild blueberries and fresh redcurrants notions with touches of dried Provence herbs, olives, woodsmoke and coffee grounds. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers beautiful freshness and loads of savory-laced black and red fruit flavors, framed by grainy tannins, finishing long and savory.”

“The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is powerful and dense with a real sense of classicism that runs through it. Gravel, licorice, black cherry, cloves and leather all race out of the glass in a positively stunning, inviting Cabernet that hits so many high notes. There is something truly magical about the 2018. Given its quality and price, the Reserve is unquestionably the wine in this range readers should focus on first.”
