Each year at Amici Cellars, we craft a wine we fondly named the “cellar blend.” It’s a wine that, until now, has only ever been opened by our team members: a wine made to capture the essence of Amici Cellars each year, handmade from select barrels that stuck out to our winemakers after weeks and weeks of sampling and tasting. This year, we’re thrilled to share a Cellar Selection wine with you. As we were unable to make any red wines in 2020, we got together as a team and unanimously voted to share the 2017 Cellar Selection with you all.
Extremely limited, the 2017 Cellar Selection is a wine of richness and elegance, showcasing the beauty and restraint of the 2017 vintage. Similar to 2020, 2017 is a vintage that will remain in our hearts as a year of perseverance and dedication. The fruit was picked prior to the 2017 wildfires, and as we taste the wines today, we recall days driving into the evacuation zone to do punch-downs and measure sugar levels in the wine. Fortunately, the wines, like all of us, were resilient enough to withstand the challenges in their paths, and you can taste the results in this wine.
