Winemaking Notes

Dense and delicious, the 2017 Amici Napa Cabernet Sauvignon leads with powerful aromas of black cherry, currant and vanilla. The full-bodied palate is reminiscent of blackberry pie, with rich dark chocolate notes along with plum, vanilla bean and tapenade that carry through the wine’s powdery-tannin finish. Vineyard sources include Heitz Trailside & Taplin Road, Larkmead, Kennewick Ranch, Spring Mountain Vineyards, Hyde and Van Winden.

“A barrel sample blended of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec, 4% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc expected to age 18 months in 70% new French oak, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet-purple colored and reveals vibrant crushed black cherries, blackberries and mulberries with touches of dried herbs, charcuterie and tapenade. The palate is full, very firm, concentrated and vibrant, with beautiful freshness and a long, earthy finish.”

“Moving to the barrel samples, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley offers forward, jammy blackberry and black raspberry fruits as well as some charcoal and espresso notes. It’s medium to full-bodied, has a rounded, supple texture, and notable purity.”

“Amici’s 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is dark, fleshy and radiant, with plenty of near and medium-term appeal. Super-ripe dark cherry, mocha, licorice and sweet spice are all generous in the glass. I would prefer to drink this racy, potent Cabernet Sauvignon over the next decade or so.”
