Vineyard Notes

The Spring Mountain Vineyard sits on the eastern side of the Mayacamas at 1400 feet in elevation. The combination of morning sun and cool evenings allow the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. This produces a classically elegant, well-balanced wine.

Winemaking Notes

Aromas of fresh apricot and sweet Meyer lemon with hints of roasted grain, hazelnut and wet stone. A dense, rich palate with flavors of crème brulee, lemon zest and baked apple.  The percent of new oak gives this wine tremendous density and the classic high elevation site gives the wine great acidity – perfect balance in the glass.

Downright Burgundian

Jeb Dunnuck

“A step up in quality (as well as price), the 2016 Chardonnay Spring Mountain District comes from a site at the top of Spring Mountain. Its medium gold color is followed by a beautiful, slightly reductive bouquet of white flowers, lemon curd, and crushed rocks. Developing more brioche and nuttiness as it sits in the glass, it’s downright Burgundian and a brilliant bottle of Chardonnay to drink over the coming 4-6 years. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it keep longer.”
