“Decadent and Pretty”

Vineyard Notes

The 200-acre Hyde Vineyard, considered one of California’s Grand Cru vineyards, includes one of the oldest blocks of Chardonnay grapes. Carneros has always been considered prime land for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The shallower soil and cooler climates of Carneros result in smaller vines, grapes that turn into brighter, more ethereal wines.

Winemaking Notes

Amici’s Hyde Pinot Noir is rich in color and aroma with black cherry, red raspberry and violet; earth notes. Balanced and textured with silky tannins and a multi-dimensional palate of ripe berries, cocoa nib, savory brown spice, forest floor and crushed stone, the 2016 shows concentration and delicacy, fruit and complexity, savory and sweet, a great representation of one of the most impressive vintages of the last decade.

Beautiful, Rich

Jeb Dunnuck

“A beautiful, rich, medium-bodied effort, the 2016 Pinot Noir Hyde Vineyard offers lots of strawberry and blackberry fruits, hints of rose petals, spice, and earth, a seamless texture, and terrific overall balance. It’s terrific today yet is going to evolve nicely for 2-3 years and keep for a decade.”

Decadent and Pretty

James Suckling

“This is a complex and enticing pinot with strawberry, meat, foie-gras and leather undertones on the nose. Full body, round and silky tannins and a pretty finish. A decadent and pretty young wine. Drink or hold. Limited production.”

Lovely Freshness

Wine Advocate

“Aged in 35% new French oak for 13 months, the 2016 Pinot Noir Hyde Vineyard is medium to deep ruby-purple colored and gives up opulent notes of cinnamon stick, cloves, oolong tea and Sichuan pepper over a core of kirsch, black raspberries and black cherry tart. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with firm, fine-grained tannins and lovely freshness, finishing long and mineral tinged.”
