Originally planted in 1868 by Hamilton Crabb, the To Kalon vineyard has produced some of the Napa Valley’s best Cabernet Sauvignon ever since gaining legendary status as one of America’s first-growth vineyards. To Kalon, Ancient Greek for “the highest beauty,” sits on prime Oakville bench land where well-drained, gravelly soils combine with optimal sun exposure to yield rich, complex flavors and impeccable fruit maturity.
Winemaking Notes
The 2015 Amici Cellars Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon lives up to the storied reputation of To Kalon as one of the finest vineyards in the country. The power of this heritage vineyard lies in it distinct nose with aromas of mineral driven clay and loam, black olive with currant and cherry liquor. The palate is driven by dense minerality, dried dark fruits, plum and roasted herbs .The power of this wine plays with our senses from the moment of inhale, though its mineral and earth flavors and finishes with an impressive finish that continues on the palate.
