Vineyard Notes
Originally planted in 1868 by Hamilton Crabb, the To Kalon vineyard has produced some of the Napa Valley’s best Cabernet Sauvignon ever since gaining legendary status as one of America’s first-growth vineyards. To Kalon, Ancient Greek for “the highest beauty,” sits on prime Oakville bench land where well-drained, gravelly soils combine with optimal sun exposure to yield rich, complex flavors and impeccable fruit maturity.
Winemaking Notes
In this 2014 Amici Cellars Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, the famous To Kalon Vineyard lives up to its storied reputation as one of the finest vineyards in the country. Displaying classic characteristics of rich, dark fruits framed by muscular, fine- grained tannins, the wine fully expresses the distinctive essence and terroir of the famous To Kalon Vineyard.
The wine bursts from the glass with exuberant aromas of ripe currant, cherry, vanilla, baking spice, and savory herbs. Deep and rich with underlying muscle, the palate shows very fine, silky tannins and vibrant fruits with subtle intensity, taut, but with a wiry muscularity and finesse that proves its impeccable pedigree.
