Winemaking Notes

Release Notes:

This 2012 Amici Cellars Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon highlights the lush, ripe fruit and Rutherford Dust of valley floor vineyards, along with the structure and ageability of Napa Valley’s best mountain appellations. The grapes for this wine were sourced from ultra-premium vineyards in Napa Valley, 60% of the blend being premier valley floor vineyards and 40% from Napa Valley mountain appellations. The rich dark fruits of Cabernet Sauvignon are blended with a hint of soft Merlot and a splash of Petit Verdot adds depth and complexity to the blend.

This wine is lush with ripe black cherry, blueberry, and cassis, intermingled with notes of mocha, cedar, clove, and licorice. Full bodied but still graceful, this wine will improve further over the next 15 to 20 years.

Fall 2022 Notes:

“This wine has aged beautifully! The tannins are still firm and the freshness has not diminished at all. If you enjoy old world wines, you’ll enjoy this one.” – John Harris, Owner

“A fleshy and velvety red with lots of blackberry, black currant and light dark chocolate aromas and flavors. Full body, flavorful. A “more-ish” young cabernet.”

Wine Enthusiast

“Floral and lush, this majority Cabernet Sauvignon contains 10% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot, combining for a structured, layered wine accented in black cherry, cedar and dried herb. From vineyards strewn across the Napa Valley, including mountainside sites, it offers power and finesse and should sit well in cellar through 2022”

Wine Advocate

“The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve ratchets up the level of fruit, extract, power and depth. This outstanding wine exhibits notes of blackcurrants, blackberries, blueberries and flowers, sweet tannin nicely framed by subtle oak, medium to full body, and a rich, authoritative personality. It should drink reasonably well young and age nicely for 12-15+ years”
