Vineyard Notes

The famed Oakville Ranch Vineyard is an impeccably farmed vineyard that sits high above the valley floor in the eastern hills above Oakville. Perched above the morning fog at over 800 feet in elevation, this vineyard sees more hours of sunlight and lower daytime temperatures than valley floor vineyards. As a result, the grapes have darker color due to the extra hours of sunlight and possess a refreshing acidity thanks to the cooler temperatures in the hills. The thin red volcanic soil restricts the vines growth yielding extremely small clusters and berries resulting in very powerful but elegant wines.

Winemaking Notes

Dense, ruby-purple in color, this wine exhibits layers of dark raspberry, black cherry, cocoa powder and hazelnut with hints of sweet spice and graphite. Full-bodied, opulent and pure, it leads to a concentrated, lingering finish.

Wine Advocate

The biggest of Amici’s 2012 Cabernet Sauvignons is, not surprisingly, from Oakville. The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville boasts a dense ruby/purple color as well as a beautiful perfume of Christmas fruitcake, crème de cassis, graphite and spice. Full-bodied, opulent and pure, only four barrels (100 cases) were produced. It should drink well for a minimum of 15 years.

Wine Enthusiast

From the heart of Oakville, this 100% varietal wine is luxurious, silky and velvety on the palate, a masterful study of texture. Lengthy and balanced, despite its powerful fruit, it suggests dark plum and cassis, with just a tiny note of cherry, the tannins refined and chalky. Cellar through 2022.
