2011 Amici Oakville Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon

Vineyard Notes

The famed Oakville Ranch Vineyard is an impeccably farmed vineyard that sits high above the valley floor in the eastern hills above Oakville. Perched above the morning fog at over 800 feet in elevation, this vineyard sees more hours of sunlight and lower daytime temperatures than valley floor vineyards. As a result, the grapes have darker color due to the extra hours of sunlight and possess a refreshing acidity thanks to the cooler temperatures in the hills. The thin red volcanic soil restricts the vines growth yielding extremely small clusters and berries resulting in very powerful but elegant wines.

Winemaking Notes

Release Notes:

This wine has a wonderful sense of harmony and finesse, with tiers of Morello cherries, black currant, and sweet tobacco flavors enhanced by hints of white pepper, cedar, saddle leather, violets, clove, and baking spices. It is subtle and elegant, perfectly balanced, with a lingering finish.

March 2022 Notes:

“AMAZING! Now this is a home run – tasting GREAT. Delicious great fruit and freshness, fresh and licorice character.” – John Harris, Amici Owner

Restaurant Wine

“The 2011 Oakville is outstanding: a complex, well balanced, rich Cabernet with excellent depth and flavor (black currant, cherry, plum, toast, tobacco, vanilla, spicy oak). It is full bodied, supple in texture, and mildly tannic on the finish.”
