2012 Amici Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley
About the Wine: This 2012 Amici Cellars Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of 50% Sauvignon Musque and 50% Sauvignon Blanc from vineyards in St. Helena and Rutherford in Napa Valley. The wine exhibits distinct aromas of citrus, fragrant honeysuckle, and notes of pineapple and guava. On the palate, round flavors of tropical fruit and lemon custard are balanced by a clean, wet stone minerality and a hint of lemon zest. It is a complex and elegant wine that pairs exceptionally well with food.
2012 Vintage: 2012 is widely regarded as one of the best vintages on record for Napa Valley winemaking. The ideal year began with a mild spring and no frosts,
and continued with a summer and fall that brought warm, even temperatures and no heat waves. Throughout the growing season the vines enjoyed warm days and cool nights, allowing a long, slow ripening that resulted in beautifully balanced
wines with fully developed flavors and fresh acidity.Alcohol: 14.2%
Appellation: Napa Valley
Fermentation and Aging: 90% stainless tank fermented and 10% barrel fermented in French oak barrels. 10% of the blend underwent malolactic fermentation.
Blend: 50% Sauvignon Musque clone, 50% Sauvignon Blanc
"Blended with 50% Sauvignon Musque that gives it a distinctly floral note, this wine has just a touch of oak, which gives it some smoky toastiness. It’s quite tart in citrusy acidity that gets the mouth watering. Flavorwise, the lemon, lime, and guava flavors have a strong cut of tart, green gooseberries. 87 points."

"Made from warm climate fruit that offers both richness and complexity, the sauvignon musqué spent most of its time in stainless steel, although some of it saw some oak and a percentage also underwent malolactic fermentation. It has a grassy nose and treats the drinker to lovely lemon zest and stone fruit on the lengthy finish."
