About the Wine: The 2009 Amici Cellars Pinot Noir comes from a hidden jewel of a vineyard, located in the coastal mountain range high above the town of Mendocino. The wine is a blend of three Pinot Noir clones, adding depth and complexity to the finished wine. The wine was fermented in small lots and hand-punched six times daily.
2009 Vintage: 2009 was an exceptional vintage for Mendocino Pinot Noir. The region enjoyed an ideal long and temperate growing season with limited frost in April and some gentle rains in early May. Summer saw below normal temperatures and few heat spikes of any duration which helped produce excellent quality fruit and wines with great depth of color and flavor, balanced acids and smooth tannins.
Winemaker Notes: Inky in color and ripe and complex in flavor, this Pinot Noir offers generous flavors of black cherry, plum and blackberry fruit. Subtle notes of cedar and spice intertwine to provide depth and complexity, and the wine is framed by refined tannins that lead to a long, plush finish. The 2009 Amici Pinot Noir drinks beautifully now, but will age nicely for 5-8 years. - Joel Aiken
