2010 Olema Chardonnay Sonoma County
About the Wine: This 2010 Olema Chardonnay, made by Amici Cellars, is a blend produced from vineyards in the widely acclaimed Russian River and Sonoma Coast regions of Sonoma County. A portion of the blend was fermented in barrels for a rich, creamy texture with the remainder fermented in stainless steel which preserves the bright, vibrant fruit and crispness. The tropical fruit characteristics of the Russian River Valley fruit marry beautifully with the citrus and mineral notes from Sonoma Coast, giving the final blend a Burgundian style with California roots.
2010 Vintage: The 2010 growing season was cool and temperate, which allowed great acid retention in the fruit and extended time for flavor development without the higher sugar levels associated with warmer growing conditions. As a result, this vintage produced elegant, well-balanced wines with appealing fruit, good structure, and moderate alcohol levels.
Winemaker Notes: Aromas of honeysuckle and tropical fruits lead to layered flavors of dried apricots, ripe pineapple and a creamy lemon custard, with a delightfully long finish. Serve this wine lightly chilled, paired with virtually any summer food. It goes especially well with grilled fish, poultry and light pasta dishes. -Joel Aiken

Reviews: "Fairly complex in style; a Chardonnay that is full-bodied, softly textured, lightly oaky, and long on the finish. It tastes of ripe fruit (pear, apple), toast, oak, honey, and grapefruit. (4 stars)"Restaurant Wine, January 2012
