2012 Amici Pinot Noir Russian River Valley
About the Wine: Made from grapes hand selected off premier Russian River Valley vineyards, the 2012 Amici Cellars Pinot Noir showcases the classic Russian River Valley characteristics of heady aromas, vibrant cherry and berry fruit flavors and delicate tannins. A true beauty of a wine, it is delicious on release but will age well for 5-7 years.
2012 Vintage: 2012 is widely regarded as one of the best vintages on record for Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. The ideal year began with a mild spring and no frosts, and continued with a summer and fall that brought warm, even temperatures and no heat waves. Throughout the growing season the vines enjoyed warm days and cool nights, allowing a long, slow ripening that resulted in beautifully balanced wines with fully developed flavors and fresh acidity.
Winemaker Notes: Beautifully aromatic, this wine opens with a dazzling bouquet of rich raspberry and fragrant violets. On the palate, flavors of black cherry, raspberry and cola spice swirl around hints of earth. Velvety tannins lead to an excellent length on the finish, with a persistent core of fruit that lingers for minutes, not seconds.

"90 Points. Bright medium red. Aromas of raspberry, musky tobacco and herbs are lifted by a floral topnote. Offers lovely balance and intensity to its red berry and spice flavors. Harmonious acidity energizes this silky, expansive pinot. Lovely pinot fruit and length here, and the fine-grained tannins will not get in the way of enjoying this wine right now. I"d consume it over the next two or three years."

"One of my all time favorites... It’s filled with aromas of purple flowers, juicy red raspberry, a hint of spice and cola for a vibrant, luscious and Pinot Noir. Tannins are well integrated and create a soft palate and supple and silky finish."

"Dark ruby-light purple color. Fresh black cherries and red currant fruit on the nose along with some sweet vanilla cola and rhubarb. Fleshy texture on the palate, fine tannins, medium acid, the black cherry and currant fruit is ripe and bold, accented by cocoa, toasted oak and cinnamon. Solid stuff, with good length on the finish. 88 Points."
